"MicroCT imaging is based on X-ray absorption of different materials. Especially in biomedical applications, the natural contrast of tissues or biopsies does not always allow to visualize them separately from surrounding structures because of similar X-ray densities. In such cases, staining techniques need to be applied during sample preparation to induce differential contrast. During this tutorial, an overview will be presented of microCT staining agents for both in vivo and ex vivo imaging of tissues and biopsies.", says Kjell Laperre, PhD.
